Did you know that every hen lays an egg of every size during its laying cycle? Just because our grocery aisle typically only offers USDA Graded “Large,” “Xtra Large,” and “Jumbo” eggs does not mean these are the only size eggs a hen lays.
These standards mean every egg farmer has to do something with all those other eggs.
Solution: Hard-boiling medium eggs
Historically, farmers handled this “inconvenience” by converting their “Medium” eggs to liquid, but this was not very profitable because of the effort required for such a small amount of sellable goods. By hard-boiling, peeling, and providing a “ready-to-eat” protein-rich food from these “Medium” eggs, we solve the problem for both the farmer and busy, health-conscious consumers.

Our HBF team of “egg experts” has spent a cumulative century perfecting the process of “hard-boiling and peeling eggs.” It takes a lot of science and a touch of art to achieve the “home-cooked” standard of excellence we strive for. We aim for quality, which means a supple texture (not hard and rubbery), a mild egg taste and smell (not bland and chemically), and a soft, smooth white surface (not a mangled appearance).


Problem: Eggs don’t all peel perfectly
Of course, they don’t!! About 15% do not meet our “retail quality” eggs standard.
Solution: Let’s make something NEW!
Our “less-than-perfect eggs” from the peeling lines are “rescued” and used as a base in our high protein, dairy-free yogurts, dips, and dressings.
These products are so rich and creamy. We can’t wait for you to try them!! Our culinary team did an egg-cellent job crafting these artisanal flavors. Our marketing team is still finalizing the packaging to “hatch” this egg-squiste patent-pending creation this summer!!

The egg is a near-perfect protein for the human body, but we must remove the shells to use them.
Solution: Use the shells in a unique way!!
At HBF Foods, we “salvage” our eggshells and separate them into calcium bicarbonate, a soil amendment, and collagen, a health and beauty product ingredient; calcium bicarbonate, a soil amendment. Yes, even our eggshells have a further life cycle!!
